Course content

You will study 3 core units and 3 specialised units.

The core units are:

1: The body in action

• Understand the structure and function of the skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular and respiratory system and how they respond to exercise.
 

2: Health and safety in sport

• Know the key factors that influence health and safety in sport. You will be able to carry out risk assessments, and plan safe sporting activity
• Know how to maintain the safety of participants and colleagues
 

3: Training and fitness in sport

• Understand the fitness requirements of different sporting activities
• Understand different methods of physical fitness training
• Be ale to plan, monitor and evaluate a fitness training programme
 

Specialised units include fitness testing, sports coaching and psychology for sport
