Product Design/Design Technology

At KS3 design and technology is an inspiring, challenging and practical subject. Using creativity and imagination, pupils design and make products that solve real and relevant problems. Students will gain a broad range of subject knowledge and make cross curricular links to subjects such as mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art. Pupils will learn how to take risks, becoming resourceful, innovative, resilient, reflective, enterprising and capable learners. Through the evaluation of past and present design and technology, students develop a critical understanding of its impact on daily life and the wider world.

At KS4 Students will acquire a more focused subject knowledge in DT that builds on from key stage 3. Students will develop knowledge and understanding of different materials, manufacturing processes and practices from the creative, engineering and manufacturing industries in order to design and make, with confidence and independence..
