Overseas teachers

We welcome teachers from overseas

We are eager to appoint exceptional individuals from overseas who wish to further develop their career in full-time education and make a significant contribution to the learning, and lives of our students. We have proven track record of working with and developing teachers trained in Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Canada and Ireland. A number of our current staff joined us from overseas with many progressing to take up positions of responsibility. As the lead school in a high performing multi academy trust, we have teamed up with our strategic partner Teach Southeast to assist with the seamless integration of our overseas staff. We offer continued and comprehensive support for colleagues converting to the English system. We are not an agency (there are no recruitment fees), just a high performing school that wants to hire the best teachers.

What we can offer you

We can offer you the chance to work in a school which has a history of developing young, dynamic and enthusiastic teachers. We have integrated many overseas trained teachers and enabled them to gain rapid promotion. We will make a commitment to induct and train every new overseas teacher for at least two weeks prior to taking up your new position; we feel this ensures you are fully acclimatised to our system. Once you have started in your new role we will ensure a maximum teaching load of 80% and full participation in our newly qualified teacher programme so that you receive your qualified teacher status after three terms. You will also be assigned an experienced one to one subject mentor who will support your development and help you with planning, preparation and administration; you will also be working in a department that shares its lesson planning and resources. Furthermore we provide all new staff with their own laptop and classroom equipped with an interactive whiteboard.

More about us

We are a fast paced and dynamic mixed comprehensive school meeting the needs of children of all abilities from 11-18 years, every day we welcome over 900 students through our gates. We are situated in Surrey, 5 miles inside the capital’s main outer ring road (the M25) and 20 minutes’ walk from a train station where the centre of London is only 25 minutes away.  Many of our young overseas staff benefit from a vibrant social scene and choose to live in metropolitan areas of London such as Clapham, Wimbledon and Kingston upon Thames.

Our recent Ofsted monitoring visit in May 2017 found that we are still a good school with outstanding leadership and pupil behaviour and well-being. The lead inspector commented that “a real buzz was witnessed in classrooms”, “pupils feel that they are taught as individuals; they are well known and well supported” and “staff feel empowered to try new things and take risks in the classroom”. We were obviously delighted with the praise lavished on our staff, but we are always looking to better ourselves. Our ideal candidates are energetic, ambitious (for themselves and their students), resilient and enthusiastic.

Please watch our welcome video (below), and email or call (02089740400) to have an initial conversation with one of our team about working here. This can be followed by a visit to the school or an interview overseas if applicable. Our latest vacancies can be found here - we look forward to hearing from you.
