Extracurricular Activities

Life at Epsom and Ewell is about much more than lessons. There is a comprehensive enrichment programme that caters for all interests and skills.

Our goal is to see every young person involve themselves in at least one activity beyond their curriculum.

Aims

  • Provide students with opportunities to participate in activities which will help to inform future career choices.

  • Provide opportunities for students to strengthen and further develop their skills to become confident independent learners.

  • Allow students to become increasingly active and independent in their learning and thinking.

  • Encourage students to participate in activities that are cross-curricular in order to make links between different areas of the curriculum and develop transferable skills.

Highlights of the extracurricular programme include the annual production run by the Performing Arts department and a fully comprehensive and inclusive programme of sporting activities run by the PE department using our new state-of-the-art facilities.

In addition to this we have a house system where students represent four Olympians. We have a range of competitions in which all students can participate throughout the year to build team spirit and camaraderie.

Academic development is also catered for where selected students are provided with the chance to partake in The Brilliant Club. Students undertake an experience day at a Russell Group university followed by a mini project focused on a variety of different subjects. A PhD student is also provided from the university to mentor students through the process. A graduation ceremony takes place at another Russell Group university every July.

We also run the Bronze and Silver Crest award for students in KS3 and 4 respectively. The nationally accredited award allows students to gain hands on experience of investigations and enquiry-based learning through different projects in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

This year we have introduced further maths lessons after school to truly stretch our most able mathematicians in years 10 and 11. The classes are extremely popular with a high turnout in both year groups.

The Duke of Edinburgh award is a very popular activity on offer for KS4 and 5 students. Students commit for 3 or 6 months to learning a new skill, playing sport and completing charity work as well as completing an independent walking expedition.

The clubs after school finish at 4pm:
