Here in the LOC (Learning Opportunities Centre) we work with any student that has anything interrupting their learning.
Our aim.... To transform low achieving and unfocused students with minimal self-esteem & lack of commitment into more confident pupils with higher grades.
The staff in the LOC are Learning Mentors who work with groups of students and individuals, teachers and parents, carers and families and other agencies helping to construct a support network. Within that network they develop trusting relationships in which information can be shared.
Whatever issues individuals face; learning mentors can help them develop respect not just for themselves but also for those around them.
The LOC is staffed by two full time and one part time learning mentors. They operate in a bespoke area consisting of three areas designed to cater for all types of activities. The two full time members of the team are also key members of the school's child protection team.
