Congratulations to the Y7 boys football team on becoming league champions. The final match of the season saw the boys gain a 3-1 victory over Hinchley Wood School. After an evenly matched first half, the team went into the final 15 minutes at 1-1, making it a very tense affair. With two minutes left Epsom and Ewell found the extra gear they needed scoring two goals in quick succession through Jamie White and Marley Fraser-Doswell to win the match 3-1. This is a great achievement for all the boys and it marks a really positive start; let’s hope that they can repeat the feat next season! Special mention must go to Jay Hawkings who has also played exceptionally well throughout the season.

A huge thank you to everyone who was involved in fundraising and sponsorship last year. We raised a staggering £11,000! As promised, this was split equally between our two chosen charities: Cancer Research UK and Plan UK. The money for Plan goes directly to help rebuild the Lojwa Primary School in Malawi.
The Epsom-Paris cycle ride was a highlight of the year and a focus for a lot of fundraising. A photo gallery is now available to view. Click here
We aim to continue raising money for both charities this coming year. Our target is £15k, so please keep an eye out for forthcoming events! There is another ambitious cycle ride planned for July and we hope to involve far more parents and students this year.
Summer exam success

Congratulations to all our students who received their record breaking GCSE results yesterday. The provisional results show that a stunning 97% achieved 5+ A*-C and 64% achieved 5+ A*-C including English and mathematics. This is a fantastic achievement especially against the national picture that shows a decline in GCSE results for the first time in many years.
Congratulations too go to our sixth form students who again achieved really well against a similar drop in standards nationally. All students wishing to go to university got their places and their 98% pass rate at A2 level was a fantastic achievement. A full analysis of the exam results is now available for download.
Epsom to Paris Cycle Ride
- Details
- Last Updated on Monday, 09 July 2012 22:12
The team have completed the ride to Paris, in aid of Cancer Research UK and Plan UK, after three long days in the saddle. The weather was atrocious when it left last Friday and it took 7 hours of hard cycling to cover the 75 miles to Portsmouth. After a night crossing to Le Harve the team cycled into the wind for another 7 hours until it arrived in Evreux for its second stop. The final leg got off to an early start, and this time the team took advantage of a strong tail wind to power into Paris in record time. The total distance of 221 miles had taken 21 hours of 'saddle time' to complete. Congratulations to all involved and thank you to Atkins and HinKell Engineering for their sponsorship and to everyone for their generous donations. A photo gallery will be available shortly.

They spent the time with their host families, joining in with family life, socialising with their exchange partner and their friends as well as spending 2 days in school. The staff and pupils at Herzog-Johann-Gymnasium gave us a warm reception, throwing a welcome party for our arrival as well as organising a cinema trip and a day trip to Koblenz. Over the week, the students’ confidence developed immensely and they all thoroughly enjoyed the trip and are looking forward to reciprocating the kindness and hospitality that they experienced!
