Philips UK, the healthcare, lighting and consumer lifestyle company has joined forces with us to introduce its innovative SchoolVision lighting concept to the UK. SchoolVision can create 4 lighting scenes that fit distinct classroom activities and  positively influence the learning process in the classroom. We will be working with both Philips and City University to support research that shows it leads to better learning results and an improved classroom atmosphere. SchoolVision will be installed in two of our science laboratories in the summer.

Performing arts takes to the community
Saturday, 10 July 2010 12:22

The school is participating in the Shakespeare Schools Festival next term. We will be performing ‘Othello’ at the Leatherhead theatre. The festival works in partnership with National Theatre and National Youth Theatre of Great Britain.

We have also been selected to participate in the National Theatre Connections programme with 200 other schools. We will be staging a brand new play at The Rose Theatre, Kingston, in a festival with other Connections companies. We will be working with the National Theatre on choosing the script and on staging our play and receive advice and training from the National Theatre's directors and from the theatre hosting our festival. More details to follow.

OFSTED performance excellence 2010

The transformation in the school has been offically recognised by OFSTED who have selected us as one of 8 schools in the 'most improved' category from all their inspections in England and Wales during the last year.  The OFSTED report is available for download. The main conclusion from it was that "Epsom and Ewell High is a good school. It provides students with outstanding support so that they make at least good and sometimes outstanding progress. Behaviour is outstanding and students are motivated, articulate and polite with a clear focus on learning."
