Duke of Edinburgh

The Duke of Edinburgh award is the world’s leading achievement award for young people. Epsom and Ewell High School is a licenced centre able to deliver and verify its own awards for both Bronze and Silver D of E in year 10 and year 12.

For the Bronze and Silver award, students complete four sections. The sections are as follows:

  • Volunteering (with individuals, with charities or in the community)
  • Physical (sport, dance or fitness)
  • Skills
  • Expedition.

Students organise and complete the first three sections independently. The school then organises three expeditions a year, two to the Surrey Hills for Bronze and one to the New Forest for Silver. Preparation for the expeditions include, team building, navigation, camp craft and first aid.
