Health and Social Care
The subject is delivered by the PE team. The lessons are taught in a bespoke HSC classroom, equipped with an interactive whiteboard. Students have good access to ICT facilities.
The course is designed to develop knowledge and understanding in the health and social care sectors and focuses on:
Developing the knowledge, understanding and skills of students to meet the needs of the health and social care sectors.
The role of the health or social care worker, their relationship with patients/service users and the responsibilities towards patients/service users and the wider health and social care sectors.
Providing opportunities for students to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.
About the Curriculum
At key stage 4 we offer GCSE health and social care.
At sixth form we offer the Level 3 BTEC national in health and social care. This course is a good choice for those wishing to pursue professional training in health or care, such as physiotherapy, nursing, occupational therapy and social work. Please follow the assessment link on the right hand side for an outline of the course and the assessment criteria.
Students do not have to study GCSE health and social care to qualify for this course.
