Why study Performing Arts?

The level 3 extended certificate in Performing Arts suits students who are looking for a career within the performing arts sector, or those who would like to pursue performing arts at degree or professional level. The course encompasses a range of disciplines that fall under the umbrella of performing arts including acting, dance, and musical theatre.  Most sessions will be practical and you will be assessed in live performance and creative processes. You will be required to manage your time and evidence your work through portfolios and coursework. The course will also give you the opportunity to look at the historical and social context of established practitioners and their work, and you will develop key skills in essay writing and presenting.

Course content

You will be marked and assessed on four units.

Mandatory units:

1.Investigating Practitioners‘ Work  (theory based unit with externally assessed exam).
 
2.Developing Skills and Techniques for Developing Live Performance (practical based unit, assessed internally).
 
3.Group Performance Workshop (Practical performance and portfolio, assessed externally).
