Outline

Computer Science is a practical subject where students can apply the academic principles learned in the classroom to real-world systems. It’s an intensely creative subject that combines invention and excitement, which can look at the natural world through a digital prism. Our Computer Science qualifications will value computational thinking, helping students to develop the skills to solve problems, design systems and understand the power and limits of human and machine intelligence.

Students will develop:

  • The capacity to think creatively, innovatively, analytically and critically
  • An understanding of the organisation of computer systems
  • The ability to apply skills, knowledge and understanding of computing including programming in a range of contexts to solve problems.
  • An understanding of the consequences of using computers, an awareness of emerging technologies and an appreciation of their potential impact on society.
