Sociology is the study of the development, structure, and functioning of human society. Throughout the course you will be able to take part in observations and reflect on what is going on in the real world to help with your understanding of sociological theory. Sociology requires students to be open- minded and think critically. At both AS and A2, students will examine topic areas in relation to the two core themes (socialisation, culture and identity; and social differentiation, power and stratification). Through developing analytical and evaluative skills surrounding real world concepts students leave with a transferrable set of skills applicable to higher education and/or employment.
