Alternative Provision is a creative way to work with our young people.
Students will have an opportunity to learn essential new skills through life skills, cooking, gardening, construction and physical activity.
Cooking: Students in all years learn how to cook basic family meals and snacks alongside understanding the costs and health benefits.
Princes Trust: Students in all years’ complete various units of work towards their unique qualification recognised by OFQUAL. They cover subjects like managing money, leading a healthy lifestyle and presentation skills.
Numeracy/Literacy: Students in all years are given time to improve confidence in numeracy and literacy with a variety of revision related tasks.
Gardening: In year 9, students learn basic gardening skills like planting and digging and work on maintaining our school garden. We are currently working alongside Wisley through a mentoring programme to support their knowledge and understanding.
Students in Year 10 are given the opportunity to attend the Sports Direct Gym in Ruxley Lane to complement their Princes trust units on leading a healthy and active lifestyle. Year 10 also learn basic engineering skills through building an electric car and then driving it.
Construction: In year 11, students are given the opportunity to gain a further qualification in Btec construction. This covers initial training in carpentry, plumbing and electrics.
