Design Technology curriculum vision
‘Mending things is interesting because you learn a lot about why they broke.’ James Dyson
Design and Technology is an exciting course that explores not only creative design but the science and technology that makes innovative design work. It is challenging both theoretically and practically allowing students to develop their creative ideas and their knowledge of science and technology.
At KS3 Design and Technology is an inspiring, challenging and practical subject. Using creativity and imagination, pupils design and make products that solve real and relevant problems. Students gain a broad range of subject knowledge and make cross-curricular links to subjects such as mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art through a range of STEM challenges. Students will learn how to take risks, become resourceful and develop resilience. Through the evaluation of past and present design and technology, students develop a critical understanding of its impact on everyday life and the wider world.
