Students wishing to follow an A Level-only pathway must have achieved at least a Grade 4 in English and Mathematics, plus three other subjects, including a Grade 5 in the A Level subject they wish to study.

The BTEC pathway is available to students who achieve a minimum of Grade 4 in five subjects, including English and Mathematics.

There is greater flexibility in the admissions criteria for students wishing to pursue a vocational or hybrid pathway. Students who have not achieved a Grade 4 in English and/or Mathematics may be entered for appropriate resit classes alongside their Sixth Form programme.

There will be an opportunity to discuss subject choices and individual course entry requirements during applicant interviews.

If the number of external applicants who meet the minimum entry requirements for their chosen courses exceeds the Sixth Form Admission Number, the following priorities will be used when allocating places:

1. Looked after and previously looked after children. This includes children who are registered as being in the care of a local authority or provided with accommodation by a local authority in accordance with Section 22 of the Children Act 1989, for example through foster care or a children's home, at the time an application is made. It also includes children who have previously been in local authority care and subsequently left care through adoption, child arrangements order or a special guardianship order.
2. Children who will have a sibling attending the school at the date of admission. A sibling includes a brother or sister, half-brother or half-sister, adopted brother or sister, foster brother or sister, stepbrother or stepsister, or the child of a carer's partner, where the children are living within the same family unit at the same address.
3. Children with significant medical or social grounds, supported by evidence from a doctor or senior social work practitioner, demonstrating why Epsom & Ewell High School is the most appropriate school for the child to attend. Evidence should explain why this school is particularly suitable and any difficulties that would arise if the child attended another school. The school may consult its own medical adviser where appropriate.
4. Distance from the school. Remaining places will be allocated to applicants living closest to the school, with those living nearer given priority over those living further away.

Epsom & Ewell High School will provide 20 places in Year 12 for external applicants. The remaining places are allocated to students who continue into the Sixth Form from Year 11 at EEHS.
