Minimum Entry Requirements
A level only pathway students must have achieved at least level 4 in English and Maths plus 3 other subjects (including a level 5 in the A level subject they wish to study). The BTEC pathway is available to students who achieve a minimum of a level 4 in 5 subjects including English and Mathematics. There is more flexibility in the admissions criteria for those wishing to pursue a vocational or hybrid pathway as we will enter students without level 4 in English or Maths into a re-sit class for those subjects.
There will be an opportunity to discuss options and academic entry requirements for courses during applicant interviews.
Admission Number
Epsom & Ewell High School will provide 20 places in Year 12 for external applicants. The remaining places are allocated to students who continue into the Sixth form from Year 11 at EEHS. Full information about the opportunities provided and full details about the courses available are set out in the EEHS Sixth Form Prospectus.
Admission Criteria
If the number of external applicants, who meet the minimum entry requirements for specific courses, exceeds the Sixth Form Admission Number, the following priorities will be used when offering places:
- Looked after children and previously looked after children will be: children who are registered as being in the care of a local authority or provided with accommodation by a local authority in accordance with Section 22 of the Children Act 1989(a), e.g. fostered or living in a children’s home, at the time an application for a school is made; and children who have previously been in the care of a local authority or provided with accommodation by a local authority in accordance with Section 22 of the Children Act 1989(a) and who have left that care through adoption, a child arrangements order (in accordance with Section 8 of the Children Act 1989 and as amended by the Children and Families Act 2014) or special guardianship order (in accordance with Section 14A of the Children Act 1989).
- Children who will have a sibling attending the school at the date of admission; (sibling refers to brother or sister, half brother or sister, adopted brother or sister, foster sister or brother, step brother or sister or the child of the carer’s partner where the child for whom the school place is sought is living in the same family unit at the same address)
- Children with major medical or social grounds, supported by certification from a Doctor or a senior practitioner in social work, which indicates grounds why Epsom & Ewell High School would be the most appropriate for the child to attend; (This evidence should set out the particular reasons why this school is the most suitable and the difficulties that would be caused if he/she had to attend another school. The school may feel it appropriate to consult its own medical advisor.)
- The remaining places will be allocated to children living nearer to the school who will be assigned a place before those living further away.
